Taylor Swift made history on Wednesday night as the pop superstar stole the show at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

Megan Thee Stallion hosted the awards show, which was broadcast live from the UBS Arena in New York. She also performed her hit singles like BOA, B.A.S, HISS and Mamushi, which saw her bring out Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba to help perform.

Swift led the nominees with a total of 12 nominations, followed by Post Malone with 11. Eminem was nominated for eight awards, Ariana Grande, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA with seven each, and Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, rapper GloRilla, Thai rapper Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims with four each.

Swift was the night's big winner, scooping a total of seven gongs, including artist of the year and song of the summer, making her the most-awarded solo artist in the history of the VMAs with a total of 30 trophies. In doing so, she surpassed the record set by Beyoncé who boasts 30 awards, 26 of which she won as a solo artist.

Eminem, Tyla and Megan Thee Stallion tied for second-most wins with two moonmen apiece, while rising star Chappell Roan took home the first major award of her career for best new artist.
