A Polish athlete has gone viral for his stunning performance at the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Poland's Łukasz Mamczarz is a high-jumper that competes in the T42 and T63 categories. Following a serious road accident in 2009, Mamczarz's lost his left leg.

15 years later, the 36-year-old - who won bronze in the F42 high-jump category at the 2012 Games - is still going string and competed in another Paralympic final on Tuesday.

Competing in the T63 category this time around, Mamczarz finished seventh after jumping 1.77m.

Making his achievement even more incredible is the fact that he was not using a prosthetic, while most of the other athletes were. That list includes the winner Ezra Frech of the USA, who jumped 1.94m to take home his second gold medal of the games following his win in the T63 100m.

Mamczarz has gone viral for his performance however, with a video captured from a fan in the stands awash with comments praising the Pole for his ability and determination.

"Incredible. These athletes are made of steel," said one Twitter user while another said "These athletes are incredible."

Another Twitter user believes a show of skill like this emphasises the need to herald Paralympians for their sporting abilities: "These athletes don’t get half enough credit."

One Twitter user believes the level of skill and strength involved should not be taken for granted: "The strength to even stay balanced so quickly is impressive enough."

Another social media user summed it up best when they posted: "Have tears in my eyes. That's just amazing. Can't get enough of the Paralympics."
