Lidl Plus app down in Ireland:

Lidl Plus, a popular customer loyalty app, appeared to be down for some users in Ireland today.

Numerous reports emerged on social media from frustrated customers encountering issues with the app during the afternoon, including it crashing.

Downdetector, which monitors outages across the globe, reported a significant spike in reports regarding the Lidl Plus app in Ireland. The surge in complaints started just before noon today and at the time of writing, hundreds of people have flagged problems with the app.

On the popular Lidl ROI Shopping Vouchers Facebook group, which has over 68,000 members, users have been discussing the disruption. One member asked: "Any one else Lidl app down?"

Another added: "I'm on my way to do my shopping. Hope it works by the time I get in."

The cause of these technical difficulties remains unclear. Lidl Ireland has been contacted for a statement regarding the situation.

A spokesperson for Lidl GB wrote on Twitter: "So sorry about this. We are currently facing some issues with our Lidl Plus app. Our IT team are working to get this fixed as quickly as possible. Please retry the app later today." At 2.30pm, they issued an update stating: "This should now be resolved."

The Lidl Plus app launched back in 2020 and offers rewards each time it's scanned at the checkout. Each week, customers will also get new single-use personalised coupons to use on their next shop - with some discounts of up to 25% on selected products. The app also offers the occasional freebie to shoppers.
