The courageous young girl who suffered serious injuries in a horrific knife attack on Parnell Square in Dublin last year has been discharged from hospital.

Dubbed a "little warrior" after the brutal incident outside Coláiste Mhuire which left her and two other children and their carer injured, the girl was released from Temple Street Children's Hospital last Friday, reports Dublin Live.

According to a heartfelt update on her GoFundMe page, she is ready to embark on a "new chapter" of her journey towards recovery. Referred to as "The Gym" by her family, her rehabilitation will focus on learning to swallow food again, improving her movement, and regaining her speech abilities.

The update stated: "On Friday 30th of August, after 281 days, we were discharged from Temple Street Children's Hospital. Today we begin a new chapter in our darling's rehabilitation (or as we call it 'The Gym'). The hope is that she is able to swallow food, move her arms and legs more purposefully, and utter some more sounds."

The resilient young girl had the chance to visit her new family home for the first time since the attack in August. In response to the tragic event, a GoFundMe campaign was set up for the family, raising over €99,000.

Riad Bouchaker, aged 50, has since been charged in relation to the incident.
