Roy Keane was left gobsmacked when Liverpool boss Arne Slot pointed out Manchester United's strategic flaws. In a resounding Old Trafford victory on Sunday, the Reds bagged a smooth 3-0 win, claiming all three points.

Luis Diaz struck twice before the interval, with Mohamed Salah also getting on the scorecard, as Liverpool continued their flawless run this season. The win puts the Merseysiders just behind Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League, level on points but trailing on goal difference.

In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, where the likes of Keane, host Dave Jones, and ex-Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge were present, Slot shed light on United's tactical tendencies that informed his approach for the Sunday showdown.

"Last season they [Man United] had a man-marking system in the midfield and a press with the striker and one of the wingers, this season they are with a more No.9 and No.10 press, so a 4-4-2," Slot said.

"So that's different, of course. In my opinion, I see them working harder if the ball is being played through them so they run more. That's at least what I saw in the first games of them [this season]."

Keane was seemingly left perplexed by Slot's analysis of Man United's vulnerabilities. The former Ireland and United captain asked Slot to clarify his tactics, particularly the decision to press high up the pitch which led to all three goals.

"Did you know if you won the ball high up the pitch you would be straight at them, really? As simple as that, if you could win it high up?" Keane questioned.

Slot responded: "Their style this season and maybe last season as well, their full-backs are really high and Casemiro comes in between. So if you can get the ball and keep Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah high then you are constantly in a one-vs-one situation."

The ex-Feyenoord boss concluded: "Then you need midfielders that can run and we had three of them today, who kept on running. And if they arrive in a duel, they are aggressive enough to win it, so that was one of the main things why we could win today."
