Gardaí investigating the death of a man in Dublin earlier this month have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder.

The suspect, who is aged in her 40s, was arrested in Balbriggan this morning and is currently being detained at a Garda station in north Dublin.

The arrest relates to an investigation into the discovery of a man in his 60s on a residential road in the Balbriggan area in the early hours of Saturday, August 10.

He had suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance but died the following day. A post-mortem examination was completed but the results are not being released for operational reasons.

The woman is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, and can be questioned for up to 24 hours. A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí in Balbriggan, Co Dublin are investigating all the circumstances in relation to the discovery of a man with serious injuries found on a residential road in the Balbriggan area in the early hours of Saturday, August 10, 2024.

“The man was removed from the scene to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance and later died on Sunday, August 11, 2024. A post mortem was subsequently completed and the results of which are not being disclosed for operational reasons,” they said.

“A woman aged in her 40s was arrested in Balbriggan this morning on suspicion of murder and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in north Dublin.”
