Sabrina Carpenter 's stock is rising tremendously, but a PR expert has issued a stark warning to the star.

As well as her rise to fame, the singer-actress, 25, has had a highly publicised relationship with Saltburn star Barry Keoghan, 31. However, rumours have started speculating that there could be trouble in paradise between the stars. It led to Sabrina having to nullify the speculation in an Instagram post.

The hitmaker, who rarely talks about her relationship, previously pouted for the camera as the outro to Please Please Please played, featuring the lyrics: “If you wanna go and be stupid / Don't do it in front of me."

Fans were quick to question if it was a break-up comment, but Sabrina simply explained Barry "loved that song". Now, with the rumour mill in full swing despite her denial, a PR expert has wade in on the news and provided her input on how Sabrina should react - and what she should do if ever the couple were to go their separate ways.

PR to the stars, Jane Owen, exclusively told the Mirror : "As a publicist working with celebrities, it's always one of the trickiest, most delicate and most challenging parts of the job when you have to 'handle' their relationship press.

"Celebrities are after all human beings and as we all know relationships, even regular ones, are complicated, take work, have ups and downs and sometimes don't work out. Some celebrities manage having a relationship in the spotlight better than others, but in my experience they generally don't like having their private lives dissected and discussed in the press and so as a publicist your job is to help shield their relationship as much as possible, help shield their individual reputations and public image, and give them the best chance to have a relationship, that is allowed to go through whatever its going to go through, without too much outside influence."

Jane went on to explain how she would best advise Sabrina to navigate her current situation, adding: "If Sabrina was my client I would also be very aware that her stock rising in the celebrity world needs to be maintained and protected at all times. Relationships that don't work out can turn ugly and can have negative impacts on the publics perception of that person.

Speculation is mounting over her relationship with Barry Keoghan

"An extreme example is of course Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Sabrina is on the rise but she's not a worldwide superstar yet and definitely not big enough that she is impervious to being 'cancelled' or having her reputation damaged and that negatively impacting her career."

She added her PR team should make sure they protect Sabrina and Barry's situation as much as possible, but also said they should "remove any risks to her own personal star power". She said they could do this by being "hyper aware of what she says on her social media, as well as in any interviews and the images that are released of them together".

Explaining how any break-up should be handled, Jane concluded: "If they were to split up, my advice to her team would be to 'Speak First' and 'Speak Loud'. Often times the first thing people read about a situation is the thing they believe. So have a statement ready and waiting - just in case - hopefully you will not ever have to use it, but its better to be ready than not to be."
