The Paris 2024 Olympics is in full swing and among those watching the sporting events across the French city and beyond are Hollywood A-listers and some of the biggest names in music.

The return of US superstar gymnast Simone Biles to the Olympics proved to be a popular draw for celebrities and they took their seats to see the most decorated gymnast ever take to the mat and apparatus.

In the crowd were a number of famous faces, including singer Ariana Grande who looked flawless in white with rounded white sunglasses, to support Simone. She was joined in the crowd by Top Gun star Tom Cruise, who continued his sporting summer by taking in the Olympics just a couple of weeks after gracing the Centre Court at Wimbledon, where he watched the best of the tennis action.

Fresh from her performance at the beginning of the opening ceremony on the River Seine, Lady Gaga was dressed in all black as she watched the action from a balcony. Much more animated was singer John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen, who both got into the spirit of supporting the athletes taking part in the Olympics. The couple were pictured with their arms aloft in the crowd, as they roared their approval as they celebrated the gold medal of the USA 4x100m freestyle relay during day one of the swimming event at Paris La Defense Arena.

Less animated in the crowd was Rolling Stones front man Sir Mick Jagger who was fresh, or not so, from performing to sell out crowds in America. The 81-year-old singer was probably happy for the rest as he took in the fencing action, wearing a hoodie and blue cap as the Paris weather began taking a turn for the better after torrential downpours.

After her opening ceremony performance on the Eiffel Tower, iconic Canadian singer Celine Dion sent a message to her fans on social media. Her show-stealing performance had viewers around the globe riveted, and Celine wrote to Instagram a heartfelt statement about her experience: "I'm honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony."

Celine also directed an inspiring note towards the athletes about to embark on their Olympic journey. "I'm so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance," she added.

"All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you. You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you! "
