Nigerian boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore has been removed from the Olympics after testing positive for a banned substance.

The 22-year-old tested positive for the diuretic furosemide in a sample taken on Thursday, the International Testing Agency has confirmed.

Ogunsemilore, who was due to fight in the same weight class as Tokyo gold medallist Kellie Harrington, is the African Games lightweight champion.

The ITA stated that Ogunsemilore is provisionally suspended and will not be allowed to compete at the Olympics. She was due to fight on Monday and previously won a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, with Amy Broadhurst beating the Nigerian on her way to winning gold.

Meanwhile, Harrington will get her Games under way on Monday when she faces Italy's Alessia Mesiano.
