Coronation Street's Craig star reveals hair transplant and shows off results
Coronation Street star Colson Smith - who competed on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year - has announced that he underwent a hair transplant in Manchester this week
Coronation Street cast member Colson Smith has shared that he underwent a hair transplant earlier this week after having found it "tough" dealing with hair loss in recent years.
The actor, 25 - known for playing Craig Tinker on the ITV soap opera which airs on Virgin Media in Ireland - took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to announce that he underwent the procedure in Manchester just days earlier. Alongside a photo of himself, he told his followers that he had the transplant done on Monday.
The photo showed Colson, who was seen wearing a black hoodie and a pair of dark trousers, smiling whilst holding up a mug that read: "Mr. Hair Transplant." He teased in the caption that he isn't sporting his "usual" hairstyle now.
Colson wrote: "Slightly different to my usual hairstyle... On Monday I had a hair transplant." He further commented in the caption of the recent post: A transplant has been on my agenda since I first noticed my hair loss at the age 22."

He continued: "Losing my hair at such a young age has been a tough thing for me to come to terms with, I instantly feel SOOO much better and more confident that I've taken a step to getting back my luscious strawberry blonde locks."
He added: "When I first met [hair transplant surgeon Bessam Farjo] in 2023 he helped me understand my hair loss and the future of my hair, I feel so lucky to now be on my hair journey with such a talented and friendly team based in Manchester [at Farjo Hair Institute]. No more comb overs and baseball caps. Here's to a future of having a cracking head of hair."
A post shared by the Farjo Hair Institute states that Colson had a "conservative hair transplant for the bald frontal areas" on his head at the clinic. It adds: "Colson's surgery with our team of 8 involved the extraction and reinsertion of 1,800 hair grafts, amounting to roughly 4,500 hair follicles. These were then inserted into Colson's hairline and frontal area." It concluded: "Here's to seeing the results in a few month's time."
Colson's post this week has been liked by his former co-stars Alexandra Mardell and Ellie Leach, who played Emma Brooker and Faye Windass respectively on Corrie. He also received support from Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kuzmin and Heartstopper 's Bradley Riches, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother alongside Colson back in March.
He was also met with supportive messages from fans in the comments section. One person reacted to the news: "Really pleased for you." Someone else said: "Buzzing for you mate." And a third person wrote to Colson: "So happy for you."
Another follower told him: "Absolutely delighted for you. Thanks for sharing your story." Whilst others expressed excitement ahead of seeing the results, with one person commenting on the post: "Can't wait to see the results."
