Mum hailed a 'genius' for cheap hack that keeps kids busy in summer holidays
A mum has shared her go-to trick to keep her children busy throughout the summer holidays - and says it doesn't have to cost much, if anything, to keep them entertained
A mum has been hailed a 'genius' for sharing her trick to keep children occupied throughout the school summer holidays. The mum, who is known as Muddle Through Mummy on TikTok, has been inundated with support after sharing her 37-second clip to stop children from complaining about 'boredom'.
In her video, she says: "If you're already sick of the 'I'm bored' winges, this is the mum hack for you. All you're going to need is any sort of jar or container, some coloured paper or card, and a pen. "Of course, there's nothing wrong with leaving your kid to be bored. In fact, that's when they have to use their imagination and be creative in coming up with ways to entertain themselves. But, this is also a really helpful thing to do.

"You can actually make it with them so they feel a sense of ownership over it. Then when they next winge 'I'm bored', you can send them to the boredom jar and they can pick out a suggestion."She went on to share some ideas for the boredom jar - listing draw a selfie, have a picnic indoors, design a paper flag, make a den from cushions, find and count all of the loose change in the house, drape a blanket over a table to make a cake.
Her other suggestions included add googly eyes to pieces of fruit, make and send a postcard, stage a sock puppet show, read a book, write a story, and help make dinner. Praising her for her idea, one impressed user said: "You're completely a genius." Another user added: "What a super idea! I love this!"
A third user said: "Your level of quality work is excellent." One more user added: "I’m a nanny and this is great - thank you." Adding their own suggestions, another user said: "Baking, perfume making, bug hunting, rock painting, make a bug hotel, draw around your hands on card and let them paint the nails, face painting
