Paphos police were on Monday looking for a man suspected of counterfeiting money.
The suspect, aged 41, is wanted, while a 43-year-old is already in custody for the case, according to Paphos assistant police chief Michalis Nikolaou.
The case involves possession of equipment for counterfeiting currency and possession of illegal goods, offences which were committed in Paphos between November 20 and 22.
According to Nikolaou, police on Saturday arrested and took into custody the 43-year-old for conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of materials used for counterfeiting.
Nicosia CID had previously tipped off Paphos police that the 43-year-old was circulating fake banknotes and had deceived two people in the Paphos district, from whom he had taken money.
The 43-year-old had presented himself on Friday at the Nicosia central police station to report the theft of his car, which police subsequently located at a site in Paphos.
Inside the vehicle police found wrapped up bundles of green and black papers the size of banknotes, and bottles, suspected to be iodine containers, as well as a black liquid substance.
They also found a safe in the vehicle, while a search of the 43-year-old’s home turned up no incriminating evidence.
