Disruption to trains to Brusse

There will be disruptions to trains to Brussels Airport starting in late January and lasting until early March, Belgian railway operator SNCB and railway infrastructure manager Infrabel have announced.

The cause is construction works. Infrabel will renew two points, 600 metres of trackbed and 1.2 kilometres of track during works that will take place sometimes at night but also on weekends, as well as continuously over a longer period in February.

Brussels Airport-Zaventem station will only be accessible from the north side of the tunnel as a result of the construction.

The number of trains to and from the airport will be reduced during the weekend of 25 and 26 January, continuously from Saturday 1 to Friday 21 February and during the weekend of 1 and 2 March.

The works will also affect passengers from other regions, with a temporary elimination of direct trains between Brussels Airport and Namur. A connection will be provided for these passengers at Brussels North station.

Passengers travelling between the airport and Hasselt, Leuven and Liège will also have to change trains.

Direct trains will continue to run to Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent and the European quarter of Brussels, but with reduced frequency.

In an attempt to reduce disruption, more trains will run to and from Zaventem (village) station. From there, SNCB travellers can use De Lijn's R26 and 82 bus lines with their train ticket.

SNCB's online travel planner has already been updated to reflect the adapted train service for February and also displays the real-time De Lijn bus timetable.
