Some of the largest German companies, including global names from the automotive, engineering, chemical and food industries, have had a presence in Slovakia for years.

But while the likes of Volkswagen, Schaeffler, Evonik and Meggle, to name a few, have successfully set up shop here, Marco Trisciuzzi, the new executive director of the Slovak-German Chamber of Commerce, AHK Slowakei, still sees plenty of untapped opportunities in Slovakia for German firms.

“It is our intention to make more companies aware of the opportunities that lie between the Danube and the Tatras,” said Trisciuzzi.

Trisciuzzi took up his position in early August, planning to make use of his experience with the Berlin-based German Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as his own extensive network of contacts.

The Slovak Spectator spoke with Trisciuzzi about Germany’s economic slowdown and its impact on Slovakia, EU tariffs on Chinese electric cars, and an approaching anniversary for AHK Slowakei.

What experience do you bring to your new job and how will you use that in Slovakia?
