History

Bratislava Coronation days

Friday and Saturday, August 16-17, 9:00 - 11:30 and 13:00 - 20:00, St. Martin's Cathedral.

The presbytery, where the Hungarian kings and royal wives were crowned, will be accessible to visitors for this special occasion (via the "small" entrance to the cathedral, which is not normally used).

You will also have the opportunity to admire the wall-mounted list of crowned monarchs from the immediate vicinity. Due to the sanctity of the place, it is necessary to enter it appropriately dressed (e.g. with covered shoulders).

Visitors will also be able to visit the crypts in the underground of the cathedral. This event is part of the Bratislava Coronation days, if interested, see the program here (English).

Art

Exhibition in Stara Tržnica

Until August 30, open from 14:00 to 21:00 in Stara Tržnica (SNP Square 25).

The interior of the Old Market Square was filled with three monumental bubbles created by Slovak photographer and multimedia artist Lousy Auber.

Bubbles symbolize connection, fragility, cooperation, and diversity for the artist. They convey an important message of belonging in today's tense social climate. Lauzi Ober used old balloons, which were given a new function in an installation created for the occasion.

Nature

Hike from Kačín to Rača

Meeting point: Saturday, August 10, at Patronka bus stop at 9:45.

Join the group of foreigners on their Saturday hike from Kačin to Rača. The forecast is for some heat, but the tourists will pass by several buffets for liquid refreshments. The meeting point will be at Patronka bus stop at 9:45 for the 43 bus at 9:58 to Kačín.

Kačín Forest Park is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Small Carpathians. It is only a short hop away from the centre of Bratislava and here you can enjoy the clean air, the harmonious environment of nature, and a forest walk even if you live in the capital.

Enjoy the 16 km trip with some elevation in parts, on marked and unmarked trails. If you want to go on this hike later, see the map below.
