The Government's efforts will continue to focus on enhancing the quality of life for Gozo residents, particularly by facilitating the lives of citizens through further investment, a government statement read.
"The Prime Minister emphasized this during two visits: one to the Gozo General Hospital, where he inaugurated new medical equipment, and the other to the Multi-Modal Hub project in Ta' Xħajma, in the limits of Xewkija."
At the Gozo General Hospital, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke of the investment in a state-of-the-art CT Scanner, which is one of only 12 innovative devices of its kind in Europe. "This equipment also utilizes artificial intelligence to enhance diagnostic precision. The CT Scanner complements other medical equipment in the field of radiography, including a new MRI and ultrasound machines," the statement read.
It was said that in the coming months, additional radiography services will be introduced to strengthen healthcare in Gozo. Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela said that with the addition of the new CT Scanner, the Gozo General Hospital now has a comprehensive suite of modern equipment providing excellent service.
The Prime Minister also visited the Park & Ride system project in Ta' Xħajma, "which is providing an important service for Gozo residents who cross to the mainland. They can leave their vehicles at this site and be efficiently transported to the Mġarr harbor. The site has been regenerated from land previously used for illegal waste dumping into a sustainable transport facility, promoting environmental goals and assists in better traffic management."
"The 24,000-square-meter project accommodates parking for 300 vehicles and includes charging points for electric vehicles." Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri said that the project, with a modern terminal and other facilities, is also served by six electric buses that transport people through the Park & Ride system.
