The developers behind the Villa Rosa project have said that the Planning Authority received "over 4,000 submissions in favour of the objectives listed in the consultation process for the revision of the Villa Rosa Local Plan."
"It is very surprising and disappointing that Moviment Graffitti has attacked this process with false allegations, when they had the chance to support the creation of public open space, the protection of the environment and historical areas, and the capping of building heights and volumes."
"Despite these clear objectives, Moviment Graffitti is giving the impression that this project will destroy the historical Villa Rosa, build on the valley and negatively impact the nearby cave. This is all false. In fact, the objectives prioritise the protection of all environmental and historical parts of the site. It is also false to say this process is intended to get approval for the application proposed in 2022. These plans have been scrapped and will be revised based on the outcome of the Local Plan review."
"Thankfully, the public has seen through Moviment Graffitti's misleading campaign, and have overwhelmingly supported the objectives of the PA. The fact that Moviment Graffitti is sacrificing its own credibility to spread false information about this process, makes one wonder whose interests it is serving - surely not the interests of the environment or the residents."
"As owners of the Villa Rosa site, we thank everybody who has participated in this first part of the consultation process. We remain committed to building a high quality tourism project for this site. The need for high quality tourism has been highlighted in every strategic document about tourism in Malta for decades."
"High quality tourism is attracted through the introduction of public open spaces, safeguarding the historical Villa Rosa and its gardens, and attracting world-renowned brands which can offer top customer service and create high quality jobs," the developers said.
