Finance Minister Clyde Caruana is set to announce the Budget for the upcoming year this evening in Parliament.

The government has chosen the slogan ‘Pajjiz ta’ Kwalita’ [A country of quality] for the Budget for 2025 – reflecting the government’s rhetoric in favour of a renewed emphasis on quality of life.

Amongst the measures expected to be announced are a reduction income tax which the government has said will impact the middle class the most.

Caruana is expected to begin his speech at 18:30

18:27: We already know that the main measure of this evening’s Budget will be an income tax reduction, with Prime Minister Robert Abela saying that the reduction is going to be a record one. We also know that this year’s Cost of Living Allowance will be of around €5 per week.

Caruana will no doubt be elaborating on these points and plenty more in the coming minutes.
