Athletics: Tamberi says may take part in LA 2028
'Did the math on probable victory' says high jump champ, 32
2020 Tokyo high jump champ Gianmarco
Tamberi said Wednesday he may take part in Los Angeles 2028,
when he will be 36.
Speaking in a lectio magistralis at the University of Urbino
which awarded him an honorary degree in Sports Sciences, Gimbo
said: "I did all the math on the probability that I would have
of winning the Olympics in Los Angeles and I am very clear about
what it would mean for me on an emotional level even just to try
after everything I have been through".
After ill-health-related failure in Paris this year, the Marche
athlete had aired the possibility of retiring,
without however expressing a definitive opinion on the possible
participation in Los Angeles.
