Padovani life term in Matteuzzi murder confirmed
Ex footballer, 28, killed ex girlfriend with hammer in Aug 2022
The Court of Assizes of Appeal of
Bologna on Monday confirmed a life sentence for Giovanni
Padovani, the 28-year-old former footballer and model for the
murder of his 56-year-old ex-girlfriend Alessandra Matteuzzi,
killed with punches, kicks, hammer blows and using a bench on 23
August 2022 outside her home in Bologna.
The Attorney General's Office, with the deputy attorney general
Adele Starita and the attorney general, Ciro Cascone, had
requested the confirmation of the first-instance sentence.
Padovani was present in the courtroom.
The reasons for the sentence will be filed within 90 days.
