Man who attacked ER chief arrested
Held in deferred 'flagrante delicto' as per new rules
A man who allegedly attacked an ER
chief in Calabria with a cosh Monday night in a fit of rage
after being told a relative was not in a condition to be
admitted was arrested Tuesday.
The perpetrator of the attack on the chief physician of the
Lamezia Terme emergency room Rosario Procopio, who was hit last
night with a truncheon, was arrested by the police for
aggravated injuries and possession of objects capable of
offending.
The attacker is a 28-year-old from Lamezia Terme, Carlo Sacco,
already known to the police.
The arrest was made by personnel of the Lamezia Terme Police
Station in deferred flagrante delicto, in accordance with new
government rules against the phenomenon of attacks on healthcare
personnel.
He is currently in the police station's holding cell awaiting
validation by the judicial authority.
