Ireland defender Seamus Coleman handed key role for Everton in wake of Sean Dyche departure
Everton announced on Thursday that Sean Dyche had been relieved of his duties as first-team manager with immediate effect.
Ireland defender Seamus Coleman will take charge of Everton in their televised FA Cup clash against Peterborough United on Thursday night.
Club captain Coleman has been handed the reins along with Under-18 head coach Leighton Baines.
The game, which will be televised live on Premier Sports 1, will be Everton’s first without Dyche.

His dismissal did not necessarily come as a surprise, but the timing of it has shocked many - just hours before a huge game in the club’s season.
Everton released a statement confirming the news. It read: “Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect.
“Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.
“The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course.
“Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”
