A toaster-shaped device invented by an Irish firm lets you charge your phone in TWO seconds. Swippitt lets you place your handset in a slot and withdraw it with a fully powered battery.

The Irish startup unveiled the system this week at the CES tech show in Las Vegas. It comprises of a smartphone case with a battery inside, the toaster-like hub where spare batteries are housed and a dedicated app.

The Swippitt Hub includes five fully charged batteries, ready for immediate use. You simply place your phone with the attached Swippitt Link - the phone case - into the Hub.

The clever tech automatically replaces your drained battery with a fully charged one in just 2 seconds - with the smart link and battery ensuring instant access to this power.

Swippitt is compatible with iOS, Android, and all major phone models, but for launch the company are focused on the full range of iPhone models 14, 15, and 16. The expansion to Android devices is earmarked for later in the year.

Padraic Connolly, the Galway-based founder and CEO of Swippitt, said: "We've created a user-friendly, simple to use, fast, and sustainable way to keep phones powered, solving one of the biggest frustrations for cellphone users.

"Swippitt is the first Instant Power System of its kind, and we believe it will make a huge difference in people's lives. This technology will change how people think about battery management and help lead the way towards a smarter, simpler path to power cellphones."

Pricing starts at €435 for the Hub and €117 for the Link. The system is expected to ship in June 2025.
