Group snowed in at pub won't get thirsty as manager reveals how much beer is left
A group of 23 visitors and six staff members have been snowed in at a pub for four days - but are keeping their spirits high by enjoying games, meals and even building snowmen while waiting for conditions to improve.
A group of people who have been snowed in at a pub for four days aren't really complaining, as there is plenty of food and drink to last until it's safe to leave.
Some 23 visitors arrived at the UK's highest pub on Saturday, and are still stuck there, along with six staff members. The pubgoers made their way to the famous Tan Hill Inn in North Yorkshire, which is 528 metres (1,732 ft) above sea level.
They visited despite several weather warnings for snow, including a "danger to life" alert from the UK Health Security Agency. Snow has piled up in the area, with pictures shared online by the pub showing several inches.
The Tan Hill Inn, which also operates seven guest rooms, made headlines globally in 2021 when 50 people were trapped during a similar snowstorm after watching an Oasis tribute band, Mirror UK reports.

In an update on social media, the pub shared a picture of guests and staff enjoying a full English breakfast. The establishment said: "Hello from a wintry Tan Hill Inn where our 23 snowed-in visitors and six staff are tucking into a full English and wondering how long their enforced stay will last here at Britain’s highest pub.
"Our guests are having a leisurely start to their day after a ‘convivial atmosphere’ last night because there’s no rush to check out until conditions improve up here on the moors. And while we wait to see if it’s safe for them to leave please note that due to the amber weather warning for snow and ice we are still closed to the public. It’s residents only for the time being - we will keep you updated when we reopen."
Manager Nicole was pictured teaching Australian guest, Paul Wright, how to build a snowman while his family, including wife Naomi and son Declan, embraced the unexpected adventure on their first trip to the UK.
Paul said: “As well as making my first snowman I’m getting a liking for the huge Yorkshire puddings and the Tan Hill bitter. The staff have been amazing. They are working so hard. We offered to wash the dishes but they weren’t having it.”
Another manager David gave an update on supplies, confirming that there’s enough food for a month and two weeks' worth of beer.
He said yesterday: “Staff are a little tired, but other than that it’s all right. The staff that are currently here, this is day seven for them working here. This will be their third day stuck. I’ve managed to avoid snow-ins in the past, but it’s caught up with us eventually, so it’s my turn this time. We have three real fires, and obviously we run off a generator so the heating is on ‘constant’ at the moment.”
Those locked in have been keeping their spirits high by playing cards and board games to keep entertained, while a young boy performed improvised dance routines to the group he was travelling with. With three real fires and a generator keeping the heat on, the snowed-in group appear to be making the most of their unexpected stay.
