Hugely popular Dublin city centre pub announces shock closure: 'End of an era'
Beloved sports bar The Living Room will close its doors for good on Monday, with patrons left 'devastated' by the news
A beloved Dublin sports pub has announced its shock closure in a devastating blow for the city's nightlife scene.
The Living Room, located just off O'Connell Street on Cathal Brugha Street, confirmed in a statement on Thursday it will shut its doors for good this Monday (January 6). However the team has vowed it will be back, teasing an exciting new chapter which will be announced soon.
Announcing the shock closure in a post shared on its Instagram page, the bar's owners said: "Farewell to The Living Room. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Living Room, our beloved sports bar located in the heart of Dublin.

"For years, our venue has been a gathering place for friends, families, and fans from all walks of life who have come together to share unforgettable moments, celebrating major sporting events and life’s milestones together. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our loyal patrons and dedicated staff, who have supported us throughout this incredible journey.
"The Living Room was more than just a venue, it was a place where memories were made, cheers were shared, and a love for sports brought us all together. The Living Room will officially close its doors on Monday, the 6th of January.
"While this chapter comes to an end, this is not the end of the story. There is exciting news to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you soon."
Boasting Dublin’s largest beer garden and Europe’s largest outdoor screen, The Living Room was incredibly popular with sports fans, and patrons have been left 'devastated' by the bar's shock closure.
Many regulars took to the comments section of the Instagram post to pay tribute to the beloved city centre venue, Dublin Live report.
"Great spot for watching football. With the big screen out the back. Great atmosphere for the Euro’s in the summer. It will be missed," wrote one person.
"The end of an era," added another, while a third said: "Such devastating news."
