It’s time to look back on a year in which there were many impressive advances in tech as a range of exciting new devices came to the market.
I review all of the latest gadgets and gizmos for IrishMirror.ie and I have chosen my favourite pieces of kit from the last 12 months.
In a separate post I'll recap on all the best smartphones, wearables, headphones, speakers and earphones.
Of all the products he tested in 2024, these are the 12 that stood out most and are still worth buying…
Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 Paper Matte (tablet)
This ultra-premium computer has a dual-OLED Paper Matte display that is superior to every other tablet. It comes with an exclusive GoPaint app to rival ProCreate along with free keyboard and M-Pencil. I loaned mine to a digital artist Annie Rowe who said GoPaint was even superior to the iPad-only ProCreate app in its watercolours experience. Read my full review here.
Engwe P275 ST was the first e-bike I tested and it offers the best of both worlds - the opportunity to physically exert yourself and get fit and then get help from the power-assisted steering if and when you need it. The design and build quality of Engwe P275 ST were both excellent and I look forward to seeing what the firm comes up with in 2025. Read my full review here.

No smartphone is capable of shooting the videos or photos you can capture on a portable 360-degree camera like Insta360’s X4. The compact and portable 8K shooter is by far the best action cam I’ve ever used - although it offers users so much more than a typical action cam. Read my full review here.
