Virgin Media's most watched shows of 2024 revealed
Sport dominated our screens this year.
Ireland's win against France in the Six Nations was the most watched programme of 2024, according to Virgin Media.
The Ballymount-based broadcaster announced its most-viewed programmes for 2024, with the Ireland rugby team once again providing the highest figures.
The February 2 clash between the two teams had an average of 1.07 million viewers for the away victory in Marseille.

Ireland’s games against Italy, Scotland, New Zealand, Argentina, Australia and Fiji also feature in the top eight.
Other rugby fixtures, including England vs Scotland, Scotland vs Italy, Ireland vs Scotland (U20) and Scotland vs France also make the top 20 most viewed programmes.
Football provided some major audiences, with the Republic of Ireland’s ties with Switzerland and Belgium in March, the UEFA Europa League final, and UEFA Champions League matches ranking high.
Another sport which drew Irish eyeballs this year was racing, with the Aintree Grand National drawing a peak audience of 510,100 viewers.
Entertainment programming also featured prominently, with the final of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ attracting an average of 661,200 viewers.
This was the highest finale in the last 20 years of the series.
Coronation Street on December 16 proved popular, with an average of 335,000 viewers, as Gail’s departure from the show neared.
Meanwhile on March 29, Emmerdale drew an average of 303,000 to watch on as Liam confronted Aaron over lying about the gene test results to Chas.
For the second year in a row, streams are on track to hit a record year on the newly launched Virgin Media Play & On-Demand services.
Streams are expected to hit 50 million for the year, across Virgin Media Play and On Demand services.
Breakfast show Ireland AM also enjoyed an increase in ratings since 2021.
In 2024 – as the show celebrated 25 years on air – it enjoyed double-digit year-on-year growth.
