Woman, 50s, in 'critical' condition after horror crash on electric scooter in Galway
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning
A woman in her 50s has been seriously injured after an incident involving an electric scooter in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The woman, who was travelling on an electric scooter, was discovered with serious injuries on the Shantalla Road in Galway after the incident, which is believed to have occurred between the hours of 1am and 2.15am on Wednesday.
The woman was removed to University Hospital Galway following the incident and her condition was described on Wednesday morning as ‘critical’.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly road users or pedestrians who were in the area between 1am and 2.15am and may have camera footage, including dash-cam. The scene of the incident remains preserved for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
A statement from An Garda Síochána read: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic incident that occurred on Shantalla Road, Galway, in the early hours of Wednesday, 18th December 2024.
“A woman (aged in her 50s), who was travelling on an electric scooter, was discovered with serious injuries on the road. The incident is believed to have occurred at some time between 1am and 2.15am. The injured woman was removed to University Hospital Galway, where her condition is described as critical.
“The scene of the incident remains preserved this morning for a technical examination. Local diversions are in place.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Any road users or pedestrians who were in the area between 1am and 2.15am and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available.
