New Netflix series is 'so binge-worthy' but leaves viewers 'yelling at TV'
A new Netflix series has been released and it's already got fans talking after it shot into the top ten most-watched series in the UK. It's also been described as 'so binge-worthy'
Netflix's latest offering is gripping viewers and leaving them shouting at their screens. The Norwegian series La Palma, a fresh alternative to the usual Christmas flicks, has just dropped and it's already stirring up quite the storm.
The show's tantalising plot reads: "It's Christmas and high season when a Norwegian family checks into their favourite hotel on the island of La Palma. But beneath the idyll, a danger lurks. A young Norwegian scientist discovers alarming signs about the volcano located in the centre of the holiday paradise.
"She must convince her colleagues that the worst-case scenario is about to happen. If the volcano erupts, a mountain mass the size of Manhattan might erupt into the sea and cause the largest tsunami the world has ever seen. Will the family manage to escape the disaster of ash, gas and lava in a fight for their lives?"

The edge-of-your-seat thriller is soaring up the Netflix charts, alongside this month's other hot new releases, Black Doves and No Good Deed.
While the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Canary Islands does exist and last erupted in 2021, the series is not a historical account but rather a fictional tale of suspense and survival.
Before bagging a Rotten Tomatoes score, people are already buzzing with their takes on it. One early bird who devoured the entire series took to the web to share: "This show is SO binge-worthy. The visuals are absolutely stunning, and it's exciting from start to finish. Loved it."
Another enthusiast hailed the series for its visual appeal and gripping narrative: "La Palma delivers stunning visuals, compelling characters with each their own unique stories, and nonstop suspense throughout the series. It's an exciting, well-crafted mini-series that keeps you hooked from start to finish."
Someone else was caught off guard by how much they enjoyed the show, commenting: "The show was a positive surprise for me. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Well written and directed and a nice overall message on climate change. Some scenes were too slow and redundant but overall I definitely recommend it, if you enjoy the genre."
Yet, not all reviews were glowing, with some nitpicking plot bits, including the finale's lows. One person shared their irked viewing experience: "Lots of me yelling at TV - 'get out of there now, why doesn't that plane take off?, don't get off that plane.'".
While another fan got raw with emotion due to the story, posting: "I'm over here balling my eyes out and rose over here just a humming ..10/10."
