Cavan and Portlaoise will host the AIB All-Ireland club football semi-finals next month.

The games take place on Saturday, January 5 with Breffni Park hosting the novel meeting of Sligo’s Coolera-Strandhill and first-time Dublin champions Cuala. Later that afternoon, Dr Crokes of Kerry will take on Tyrone’s Errigal Ciaran at Laois Hire O’Moore Park after the pair won the Munster and Ulster titles respectively last Sunday. The games will be among the last to be played under the ‘old’ football rules, with the Football Development Committee’s raft of rule changes sweeping in for the Allianz League at the end of next month.

The senior club finals in hurling and football are scheduled for two weeks later, Sunday, January 19, in a Croke Park double header.

The senior hurling final pairing will be known after this weekend, with Na Fianna (Dublin) and Loughrea (Galway) pairing off on Sunday, along with Slaughtneil (Derry) and Sarsfields (Cork) in the other semi-final.

The GAA has also confirmed the fixture details for the All-Ireland club series games at junior and intermediate level.
