Major Caoimhin Kelleher development as Liverpool boss Arne Slot issues Alisson fitness update
Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is in line to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has issued an update on Alisson’s return to fitness - and it spells good news for Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Alisson has been out of action since early October after he picked up a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace.
Slot had hoped that the Brazil star would be back after the November international window, with Liverpool set to face Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday.

Next Wednesday they are at home to defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League - and Alisson is unlikely to make either game.
That means Kelleher, who has stood in for his injured teammate for the past six games in both the Premier League and Europe, is set to extend his stay in the starting-11.
According to Slot, speaking on Friday morning, Alisson is still some way from making a full return to fitness.
He has been training with the club’s goalkeeper coach, but hasn’t yet resumed training with the rest of the players.
Slot said: “We are careful with everyone, especially when it comes to muscle injuries. He is back training with his goalie coach, not yet with the team, but expected to return soon.”
Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures also include the December 1 visit of Manchester City and a trip to Newcastle four days later.
