The latest star set to land in the I'm A Celebrity jungle, Maura Higgins, shared an update with fans about her appearance on the show, which sparked a response from Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague.

Rumours swirled about Maura's involvement in the series prior to its kick-off, but she was conspicuously absent from the official cast announcements.

Now, presenting duo Ant and Dec have confirmed that just like her infamous entry on Love Island, Maura's joining the reality series as a latecomer, alongside Reverend Richard Coles, reports OK! Initially, they'll be secluded from fellow campers such as GK Barry and Coleen Rooney.

Maura alerted fans about her impending adventure with an Instagram post, revealing the inevitable goodbye to her phone and consequently, social media contact.

With a mix of excitement and trepidation, she shared: "I'm landing in Australia! The minute I land, my chaperone is taking my phone off me, so this is goodbye, My manager's going to be looking after my social media while I'm in hell and she's going to ruin my life on my Instagram. Facts."

She continued: "I've been trying to prepare my brain and mind this whole flight but I spent most of it sleeping because I've been hungover."

Displaying both hopes and fears for the upcoming challenge, Maura added: "I just hope I do everyone proud. I hope I don't let you down but most importantly I hope to do myself proud because I don't wanna be the biggest p**** in camp. The next time you see me I'm going to have bugs all over me. Love you."

The post garnered a heap of supportive comments, including those from well-known TV faces. Stacey Solomon chimed in with encouragement, saying: "You've got this Maura...you're stronger than you know! Good luck!".

Ariana Madix also had some inspiring words for her, saying: "You are going to become queen of the jungle! "

Adding to the list of celebrity well-wishers was Molly-Mae Hague, who formed a bond with Maura during their time on Love Island. They were both caught up in a romantic tangle with boxer Tommy Fury on the show but have remained pals despite it all.

Earlier in the year, when Molly-Mae parted ways with Tommy, Maura didn't hesitate to offer words of comfort as she joined in the ocean of online support, professing: "LOVE and ADORE YOU," with the added touch of a white heart emoji.

Now, its Molly-Mae's turn to root for Maura as she heads to Australia, replying to her latest adventure with a simple yet powerful endorsement: "Queen" along with a love heart emoji.

I'm A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
