A fundraising campaign has been launched to help a family following a devastating fire that tore through their home over the weekend.

The neighbour of a family whose sentimental items were destroyed in a blaze on Sunday, November 17 is hoping to raise funds for the family to “add a tiny bit of happiness to their lives” as the fire occurred just a few weeks before Christmas.

In an appeal on GoFundMe, caring neighbour Kayleigh asked people to donate in any way, if they could, to help Valerie and her four children after the fire.

“Hi everyone, I am a neighbour of Valerie and her children and hoping to raise some money for them after a devastating fire in their family home on Sunday, 17 November,” a post on GoFundMe read.

“Valerie is a mother of four and as a mother myself, I can only imagine the pain and heartbreak they are feeling right now. No mother or child deserves to stand watching their home burn.

“There are many sentimental items gone that can never ever be replaced but I am hoping by raising some money for them, it will enable them to purchase some of what can be replaced.

“Let’s try to add a tiny bit of happiness to their lives- especially with Christmas being just five weeks away. Please, please if you can donate in any way, no matter how big or small- it would be very much appreciated. Thank you so so much.”

So far, the GoFundMe has raised €1,958 of the €5,000 target. To donate to help the Compton Family after the devastating house fire, head here.
