Ireland snow tracker: Counties where snowfall is most likely as several areas fall under weather warnings
The unseasonably mild November so far has come to an abrupt end - here are the areas at most risk of snowfall
Wrap up well if you have to venture out today or tonight as Ireland is set to be blasted by a "cold arctic maritime airmass", with a number of weather warnings issued by Met Eireann.
The unseasonably mild November so far has come to an abrupt end and with that comes the arrival of snow and ice for some areas as temperatures plummet.
The entire country will fall under a Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning from 8pm tonight until 10am on Wednesday morning, with the potential impacts of the warning including hazardous conditions on roads and paths and general travel disruption. This will return overnight from 8pm to 10am until at least Friday.

Meanwhile, the counties of Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo have been placed under a Status Yellow snow/ice warning since 6.45am this morning. This will remain valid until 11am as those counties are most likely to see heavy snowfall.

Of today, a Met Eireann spokesperson said: "Very cold this morning with outbreaks of rain gradually moving south. Turning to sleet and possibly snow over higher ground. Sunny and dry spells will develop from the north during this afternoon with highest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in a chilly northerly breeze.
"Mostly dry tonight with clear spells. A few showers will drift in across northern areas turning wintry at times too. A very cold northerly breeze will persist with lowest temperatures of 1 to -3 degrees. Frost and icy patches will develop overnight."
Of Wednesday, the spokesperson added: "Frost and ice will be slow to thaw, perhaps lingering all day in sheltered spots. A mix of sunshine and showers again, some of them wintry. The showers will again be largely confined to the north and west but a few may spread elsewhere. Highs of 3 to 5 degrees with light northwest winds, freshening at times and feeling quite cold too.
"Dry and clear in many parts but scattered showers will continue in parts of the west and north. Lowest temperatures of -3 to +1 degrees with frost and icy patches in mainly light to moderate northwest or variable breezes."
