Tom McKibbin was ecstatic after holding his nerve to earn the 10th and final PGA Tour card for 2025 offered to DP World Tour players this season.

McKibbin, 22, will follow in the footsteps of his Hollywood GC mentor Rory McIlroy in the new year by heading Stateside to play in some of the world's top events.

It took every bit of his mental resources to make it as McKibbin knew he was on the cut line for the cards. It was only when he knocked in a three-foot birdie on the last hole of his DP World Tour Championship bid at the Earth Course that he had done enough to make it by finishing in 18th place in the Race to Dubai standings.

And he needed that birdie after a rollercoaster round that saw him birdie three par fives but also make bogey on eight, 15 and 16. He had done enough to achieve a lifetime ambition.

“Yeah, very exciting,” McKibbin said later. “It would be great to be over there on the PGA Tour, and it will be great to go over there and play some golf. “Seems like I like to play on some of the harder courses and that suits my game a little more, so it will be exciting to get over there and see how it goes.

"I think it was a tough one, sort of wanting to finish the tournament as best I can, knowing that was on the line, a hard golf course and pretty tricky day. Especially 17, 18, I feel like you don’t have to hit too poor of a shot to find the water and likely I hit pretty good ones.”
