Tony Bellew ranted at Jake Paul - but his microphone failed and nobody could hear him before he was marched out by security
Former world champion Tony Bellew was thrown out of Mike Tyson's press conference with Jake Paul after aiming a rant at the YouTuber.
Bellew, who could have passed as a heavyweight himself, is in Texas with a bookmaker Paddy Power and interrupted the press conference to aim a rant at Paul. He was joined by an elderly gentleman whom Bellew proposed as Paul's next opponent - but the stunt backfired when Bellew's microphone failed and nobody could hear the former cruiserweight champion.
He was then embarrassingly led from the venue by security as Paul looked on bemused. Bellew has repeatedly taken aim at Paul who has built a career in boxing since making his professional debut in 2020. He will take on 58-year-old Tyson in his 12th professional fight with his only defeat coming against Tommy Fury last year.
Earlier this week, Bellew criticised Paul for fighting Tyson. “Mike Tyson's a granddad," he told Best Offshore Sports Books. "He's 58 years old. He's closing in on 60 and he's fighting a man who isn’t even half his age. The Disney Boy is just attacking granddads now. It's truly frightening. I mean, we might as well go to the retirement home and start getting out a few of them.
"If Mike turns up and lands a right hand on him, he's going to sleep. So who should he come back against? A 70 year old? If he wins, is he going to keep going like that with the age? Is he going to come down? Is he going to face a real boxer?” Away from Bellew's interruption, Tyson was a man of few words two days out from his return to the ring. Tyson was last in action four years ago when he and Roy Jones Jr fought to a bore draw after eight rounds.
And Paul questioned if the legend will back up his plan to knock out the social media star. "He's says he's going to kill me, is that right? I want that killer, I want there to be no excuses when I knock him out." And asked about Tyson branding him a "manufactured killer", Paul added: "Whatever he wants to think, everyone's entitled to their opinion but the deadliest weapon on the planet is manufactured, it's a nuke. Someone's getting put to sleep, it's going to be a war. "We're both heavy hitters and it's not going the distance."
