Man hospitalised following vicious assault in Dublin city centre as gardai launch investigation

A man was rushed to hospital last night after being assaulted in Dublin city centre.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene on Talbot Street, Dublin 1 on Thursday evening, November 7.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene before being taken to the Mater Hospital, where his injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

In the hours since the incident, a technical examination of the scene has been completed.
Gardai cordoned off a section of the city centre street just off Joyce's Walk as they continue their investigations into the alleged assault.
In a statement to the Mirror, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault which occurred on Talbot Street, Dublin 1 last night, Thursday, 7th November 2024.
"A man (20s) was brought to the Mater Hospital to be treated for injuries which are believed to be non-life-threatening.
"Investigations are ongoing."
This is the latest violent incident to have occurred on Talbot Street in the past 18 months. Last month a man was taken to hospital in a “serious but stable” condition following an assault on the northside street.
In July, a man was rushed to hospital after he was injured while being robbed in the middle of Talbot Street in the inner city. During the course of the shocking encounter, the man was injured - and left lying in a pool of blood.
And last year US tourist Stephen Termini was viciously beaten on Talbot Street and was left in a coma.
The artist and musician suffered serious head injuries during the incident on the corner of Store Street and Talbot Street in the north inner city on the night of July 19. Shortly afterwards, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee announced millions in extra funding for Garda overtime to police the city.
