Conor McGregor in court: LIVE

UFC star Conor McGregor returned to the High Court for a fourth day on Friday as Nikita Hand seeks damages in a civil case for an alleged assault at the hands of McGregor, 36, and James Lawrence, at the penthouse suite of the Beacon Hotel in Dublin on February 9, 2018.

On the third day of proceedings on Thursday, it was put to Ms Hand by Remy Farrell, Senior Counsel for Mr McGregor, that she was an "enthusiastic participant" when having sex with McGregor on two occasions and that they were both "sexually excited".

Ms Hand denied Mr Farrell’s claims on behalf of his client, and at one point stated that it sounded like a “made up story”. Mr Farrell was into his second day of cross examining the witness - who claims McGregor violently raped her in the bedroom of the hotel and that she thought she was going to die.

Mr McGregor and his co-defendant, James Lawrence, of Rafter's Road, Drimnagh, who is also accused of assault, deny the allegations made against them.

Mr Farrell challenges Ms Hand on events he claims she says she doesn't remember

Farrell: "Just for the jury's benefit, I want to identify what you can rememeber and what you don't.

"You remember going to Beacon getting into lift." Ms Hand says yes.

"But you don't remember "being affectionate" to McGregor. Ms Hand says no.

"You remember being raped but appear not to remember it for a period of time? You remember sending a text to Ste at 18:28. And we've been around the houses on that. You also remembered where you were when you sent it." Ms Hand says she thought it was when she woke up.

Farrell: "That's another part of your memory that is gone."

Farrell: "You don't remember any of the things we see on the CCTV. You don't remember anything of the half hour when you're down in the basement with Mr Lawrence. You then remember being back in the room and recalling the rape.

"You don't remember what happened then for the next number of hours."

Ms Hand says she remembers being upset, speaking to James, getting food and then remembers being in the taxi.

"I do also remember a body guard being present at one stage. I don't remember getting in the taxi," she says.

Mr Farrell says Ms Hand remembers having 50 euros and that she was given it by James.

"But you don't actually remember him giving it to you," he says.

"No I don't," Ms Hand responds.

Mr Farrell says Ms Hand remembers meeting Emer, telling her what happened and having a confrontation with Ste.

"I don't remember word for word what I was saying to him," Ms Hand says.

Ms Hand asked about getting in the car and putting her "arms around" a security guard

Mr Farrell says he wants to go back to the picture she put up on her Instagram stories. He asks is he correct in understanding Ms Hand was following McGregor but he was not following her. Ms Hand confirms.

He asks if, when she puts up a picture, McGregor would not be able to see unless she selected (tagged) him. Ms Hand says he was one of the people she selected to be able to see it.

Mr Farrell says he is suggesting they were in car and, at some point, McGregor decided to get Mr Lawrence. "Basically they are looking for another man, I hesitate to call it a double date," Mr Farrell says.

Ms Hand responds: "I'm not sure what he was thinking. I can't answer that."

Mr Farrell asks was there anything in those conversations that suggested Mr McGregor thought he was coming to her party. Ms Hand responds: "No because he said he would come and get us."

Mr Farrell asks Ms Hand did she chat to the driver. She had said he "seemed nice". Mr Farrell asks is he one of those people Ms Hand described as a security guard. She says yes.

Mr Farrell says the jury would have seen on CCTV where "you put your arms around the security guard". Ms Hand says "I have no memory of that.

Mr Farrell, reading out a medical report from Friday June 8 2018, of Ms Hand, in a consultation with a doctor. It says she has had panic attacks. Increased anxiety.

Ms Hand: "It probably does ring bells for me. I was really upset at that time. I was very down then.

She had started 50 milligrams of anxiety medication then.

Mr Farrell: "You don't dispute what is in your medical records. You told the doctor you suffer from panic attacks. Ms Hand says yes.

Mr Farrell asks would she notice any reaction if she didn't take the medication. Ms Hand says no.

Mr Farrell asks Ms Hand if she remembers talking to a Garda named John Ryan in the Rotunda Hospital. Ms Hand says she does remember talking to a guard.

Mr Farrell asks is she remembers saying to him she remembered being in a hotel but didn't know where the hotel was.

"No I don't remember," Ms Hand responds.

She is asked if she remember telling Garda Ryan she was in hotel room with her friend and that she wouldn't name the friend.

Mr Farrell says Ms Hand never told her then boyfriend about waking up in a taxi

"You don't appear to have told Ste you had woken up in a taxi," Mr Farrell continues.

"An important part of your story that you just wake up in a taxi...with no memory of how you got there. That's what you've been telling the jury."

"It's not there in the recording is it?" Mr Farrell asks. Ms Hand says she can't even remember the recording. The judge says the jury can listen to it - the jury have also been provided with a transcript of the recording.

Ms Hand: "I know I did bite him"

Mr Farrell: "You're quite desperate for Ste to believe your lies, isn't that correct?"

Mr Farrell asks about Ms Hand being asked by Ste in the recording what time she went there. She had said about 1 o'clock. She had said: "I didn't lie to you. I asked you could I go out and you said yeah."

Mr Farrell: "So when he challenges you to say you're lying, you double down.

Ms Hand: "I was very upset. Again I agree with you but it doesn't take away what happened to me."

Mr Farrell says Ms Hand tells Ste in the recording that she bit McGregor's face. She had said in her evidence she did not know where she bit him, Mr Farrell says.

Mr Farrell says Ms Hand saw the CCTV footage and she stands there and then follows McGregor over to the car.

"You're in the lift with Mr McGregor for some time. What I'm putting to you, you surely knew - Mr McGregor did not have a bite mark on his face. You'd literally been face to face with Mr McGregor in the lift."

Ms Hand says she was not going to remember everything and that she was "traumatised and in pain". "I don't remember seeing his face or anything." she says.

Mr Farrell says when Ms Hand went up to the car she tried to convince him to come out again. Ms Hand replies: "I don't remember."

Mr Farrell recounts the part of the recording where Ste says if they go to the guards he (McGregor) was still going to have a mark on his face. Ms Hand says she was very confused but "I know I did bite him".

Mr Farrell alleges 'web of lies' told by Ms Hand

Mr Farrell asks Ms Hand about sending a text to Ste saying she was on her way home and dropping Emer home. She says she does not remember.

Mr Farrell: "Is there any reason why you would have been sending that untruthful text?" Ms Hand says she doesn't know.

Mr Farrell says it is all part of the "web of lies" told by Ms Hand.

Mr Farrell reads the text where Ms Hand says she is sharing a taxi with Emer and referring to the recording where Ste says to her that she said she didn't go out with her.

Mr Farrell: "You were telling lies to Ste."

Ms Hand: "I was crying, confused, I was hurt. But I agree with you, I did lie to my boyfriend."

Mr Farrell: "Why were you lying about remembering you ran out?"

Ms Hand: "I was very confused and traumatised. I was after being raped and battered. All I cared about was my body and how sore it was. I couldn't face anything. I didn't care about anyone else except myself."

Mr Farrell, SC for Conor McGregor, claims Ms Hand "never once" said in Garda interview that McGregor threatened her

Mr Farrell says he is trying to find out the reason she told the lie to her then boyfriend.

Ms Hand: "I can't tell you the reason. I don't know why."

Mr Farrell: "You didn't want to say to Ste it was you and a female friend in a hotel room with two men isn't that right?"

Ms Hand: "Yeah."

Mr Farrell says an "important" part of what she said to Ste was that after the salon, they had all gone into town. Ms Hand says she heard that but does not remember saying it to him.

Mr Farrell: "You told Ste on a number of occasions, you said he told me he'd kill me. That was a reference to Mr McGregor isn't that right?"

Ms Hand: "It was, yeah."

Mr Farrell says she "never once" suggested to Gardai in her interviews that Mr McGregor threatened her.

Ms Hand: "I can't remember."

Ms Hand discusses recording of conversation with then boyfriend on night of the incident

Mr Farrell asks Ms Hand about the recording played of her talking to her then partner, Ste, which lasted for 38 minutes and was played in court on Thursday.

Farrell asks her was she "too scared to tell him Mr McGregor's name"? She says yes. She says she knows she told him lies.

Asked what lies, Ms Hand replies "that there was other people. It was just me and Danielle".

Mr Farrell asks her telling Ste in the recording that she was in the "Morgan bar". "I did think the Beacon and Morgan is very similar," Ms Hand says.

Mr Farrell says: "You couldn't possibly have thought you were in the Morgan bar?" Ms Hand says she wasn't telling the truth.

Mr Farrell: "That was a conscious untruth?

Ms Hand: "I knew it was untrue. I didn't want to tell him the truth. I lied to my boyfriend. It's just as simple as that. Me lying to my boyfriend doesn't take away what happened to me. Lying to your boyfriend isn't a crime but what happened to me is a crime."
