Kylian Mbappe 'frustrated' at Real Madrid as big problem identified
Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid endured another heavy home defeat on Tuesday by losing 3-1 to AC Milan in the Champions League and now the French superstar's feelings have emerged
Kylian Mbappe is growing increasingly frustrated at Real Madrid as boss Carlo Ancelotti continues to play him as a central striker.
Mbappe, 25, has scored eight goals in his first 15 appearances for Los Blancos but his performances on the big nights have led to criticism both internally and externally. The Frenchman produced another lacklustre display on Wednesday as Madrid were beaten 3-1 at home to AC Milan in the Champions League.
That was Real's first match since being slapped 4-0 on home soil to arch rivals Barcelona, who they now trail by nine points at the top of La Liga. Mbappe played down the middle in both defeats, as Ancelotti kept Ballon d'Or runner-up Vinicius Junior in his preferred position on the left wing.
Ancelotti's decisions have upset Mbappe, who Spanish newspaper Sport claim doesn't see himself as a striker and believes that it's contributing to his underwhelming performances. The ex- Paris Saint-Germain forward, who made the move to Madrid on a long-awaited free transfer in July, wants swap positions with Vinicius and is unhappy with Ancelotti's reluctance to use the Brazilian as a striker.
The report comes after former Real striker Karim Benzema, once Mbappe's team-mate for France, told El Chiringuito : "The problem, for me, is that for me he is not a centre-forward. Mbappe is not that, because every time he plays, for the national team, too, at nine, he is not good, it's not his position.
"The problem is that on the left, there is a player that is like him, at the same level. So there is a problem. The thing is you cannot put Vinicius at nine, or on the right, because he makes the difference in games from the left.
"I think Ancelotti knows a lot, and he will find the solution. Mbappe is not a true number nine, I understand that people ask a lot of him, and there is a lot of pressure, and it's true that it's not a club like Paris Saint-Germain."

Benzema continued: "What can I say to Kylian… He shouldn't give up. Because I don't think he will move Vinicius, because he is the best in the world at the moment, and he can't be moved, that much is true.
"Mbappe has to get it into his head that he is a nine now, and forget about the left. And he has to move with Vinicius, if Vinicius comes inside, he goes out, and switch a lot. Mbappe is very, very, very good from the left, but he has to understand he can be very good in other areas of the pitch."
