Gardai safely remove man from crane on Dublin construction site as 'media blackout' lifted
Gardai safely removed a man who climbed a crane at a Dublin construction site today. He was detained for his safety and is receiving treatment, with officers thanking the media for their cooperation during a temporary 'media blackout'.
Gardai were called to the scene of a distressing incident at a Dublin construction site today, after concerns were raised for a man who had climbed a crane.
Officers responded immediately and a cordon was established around the area on Camden Row, Dublin 2.
In response to the escalating situation, gardai activated their Operational Command protocol, with an on-scene commander overseeing the operation. Garda negotiators, supported by several other Garda units, were also deployed.
After negotiations, gardai successfully managed to remove the man from the crane and he was detained for his own safety. He is currently receiving appropriate treatment and assessment.

Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, gardai have not disclosed further details at this time. They also thanked the media for their cooperation during a temporary 'media blackout', which has since been lifted.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí were called to the scene of an incident at a construction site on Camden Row, Dublin 2, on 6th November 2024, following concerns for an adult male who had climbed a crane.
"An Garda Síochána responded to the incident and activated its Operational Command protocol. An on-scene commander was appointed and Garda negotiators, along with several other Garda units, attended the scene. A cordon was established around the area.
"Through successful negotiations, Gardaí were able to safely remove the male from the crane. He was subsequently detained for his own safety and is receiving appropriate treatment and assessment. Owing to the nature of the incident, no further information is available.
"An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media for their cooperation during the media blackout."
