Mike Tyson drags his mum into promise about Jake Paul boxing fight
The two boxing stars will finally settle the score next month after 'Iron Mike' was forced to pull out of the original date back in July after suffering an ulcer flare up
Mike Tyson has sent a chilling warning to Jake Paul ahead of their showdown - claiming he would even deal with his mum if she stepped into the ring.
With the fight a little over two weeks away, both fighters are in the final stages of their respective training camps. The two boxing stars will finally go head-to-head on November 15 at the AT&T Arena in Arlington, Texas, in front of up to 90,000 fans. The pair were scheduled to face off earlier this year, but Tyson was forced to pull out of the contest after suffering an ulcer flare up.
Despite fears for his health, Tyson has returned to the gym and is adamant he will be fit to face 'The Problem Child' - who is 31 years younger than the boxing icon - next month. 'Iron Mike' hasn't fought a professional contest since 2005. He did, however, take part in an exhibition showdown with Roy Jones Jr back in 2020.
As for Paul, the 27-year-old will be desperate to make a statement in Texas next month. The social media star made his professional debut four years ago and has already defeated the likes of Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz. His only defeat in the ring came on points against Tommy Fury last year.
The fight will be contested over eight two-minute rounds and will take place at heavyweight. With fight night fast approaching, both men have ramped up the trash talk ahead of bout. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, when asked if he feared for Paul given what he is up against, Tyson revealed that the young American knows what he's getting into, and even dragged his mother into the reply. "Whoever is in that ring has a problem with me," he said. "If my mother stepped into the ring she has a problem with me. Don't go in that ring if you don’t want that problem".
Many have feared for the boxing veteran's health ahead of the clash next month - particularly after Tyson was forced to pull out of the original date in July. However, in the same interview, when asked for an update regarding his health, the former world champion replied: "Everything is sorted out. I had an ulcer problem. I was eating bad food". The American was then quizzed whether he'll be ready for November 15, with 'Iron Mike' replying: "Thank God".
Ahead of the clash, Tyson believes the YouTuber will suffer due to the gulf in class. "He can fight, for boxers his level. I do not believe [he can compete at my level]," Tyson told Fox 4 Dallas. "I'm just going in there with bad intentions and my intention is to hurt this young man. As soon as I catch him, because he's going to run like a thief. I don't see how he's going to make it an exciting fight by running all day.
"He's supposed to be the young guy, he's supposed to walk right through me. I'm an old man but he's going to run all night. He should try it (meet him in the centre of the ring); he's a younger man. he should be able to take punches from an old and withering man like me. I can't wait for this evening to happen. I just don't think he's taking it seriously. I think he believes he's the young guy and I'm the quasi-retirement child, they may think I'm an easy touch. "[The fans] won't believe the spectacle that's going to happen, it'll be something they've never experienced before as far as pain is concerned."
