An award-winning businesswoman was subjected to racial abuse by trolls after she announced a new charity calendar in the Irish Mirror.

Nadia Adan (33) hit back last night and said: “I love being Irish.” Nadia of luxury car dealership Ashford Motors in Wicklow told us last weekend of her plans to promote awareness of mental health with her calendar.

But she was then targeted by cruel abuse from racists who claimed she should be replaced by a “white, Irish woman” in the photos.

Nadia, who shot to fame as the breakout star of an RTE reality TV series in 2022, has blasted the racial slurs and stated her pride at growing up in Ireland.

She said: “After the story appeared in the paper about my new calendar in aid of Men’s Aid, I received a comment online. They asked why we didn’t use a white, Irishwoman instead of me. Apart from the fact that it is my calendar, I have a big head and thought I could do the modelling.

“Not only would it put more money into my pocket, it would also put more money into my chosen charity’s pocket. Whatever about the current immigration policies in Ireland, I came here when I was seven or eight years old with my mum from Somalia.

“We were homeless, taken into refuge, met with open arms, welcomed, and taken into State care. My mam started working straight away. She worked six jobs, got us into private rental accommodation, and put me through school and Trinity College.”

Nadia now owns her own business and employs several workers from Ireland, Poland, and Lithuania. She said: “I contribute to the economy and pay high taxes. I love being Irish and have come here and been given an opportunity for a better life. I am now giving back to Men’s Aid with my new calendar.”

The Instagram account with an Irish man’s name posted: “Why did they not use an Irish model? White, Irish girls are more beautiful.” One of Nadia’s followers responded: “Nadia, don’t mind the haters. You’re amazing and well done for bringing awareness again to Men’s Aid.” Another told her: “You are an inspiration to many people who have had challenges. What a fabulous success story.”

The theme of the new 2025 calendar is Nadia at the movies. She said: “We’re using old movie cars and we’re going to have ones from the 80s, 90s, and Noughties. They’re all really classic, well-loved movies.

“I wanted to do something totally different to last year. We have a DeLorean, a Starksy and Hutch car and the General Lee car from The Dukes of Hazzard.”
