Almost 100,000 people tuned out of Friday night’s Late Late Show, new figures reveal.

The Friday night chat show – hosted by Patrick Kielty – lost 91,000 viewers since the country music special last Friday week.

An average audience of 476,000 tuned into the country music special on October 4 – but last Friday, 91,000 switched off the show.

The fifth episode of the Friday night chat show was watched by an average audience of 385,000 people across both RTE One and RTE One +1.

A spokeswoman for RTE confirmed: “Friday night’s Late Late Show was enjoyed by an average audience of 385,000 on RTÉ One and RTÉ One+1.”

Comedian Dara Ó Briain and TV host Angela Scanlon joined Kielty in studio as well as Galway hurler Joe Canning who spoke about his new book My Story.

Aeronautical engineer Dr. Norah Patten also spoke about her lifelong quest to become the first Irish person in space and how this dream will soon become a reality, while Australian actor and singer Jason Donovan also spoke to Kielty about his stellar career.

“It was watched by 40% of the available audience on RTÉ One. Friday's show has generated over 35,000 streams on RTÉ Player over the weekend.

“This weekend The Late Late Show has had almost 8 million video views across all social content and 330,000 engagements.”

The show, which returned for a new season in September, saw its first episode attract an average audience of 441,000.

The second episode had an average audience of 399,000 viewers.

The show dipped even further in ratings for the third episode when an average audience of 368,000 people tuned in, bringing a total of 73,000 viewers tuning out across three consecutive weeks.
