Coleen Rooney shared her heartbreak over the death of her little sister, Rosie.

Rosie died aged 14 back in 2013 after a lifelong battle with the rare brain disorder Rett syndrome - which causes severe disabilities. While Coleen has remained relatively private about her sister, her mum, Colette, previously revealed that the Liverpudlian WAG "keeps things to herself."

During the latest episode of ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Coleen was sat with her fellow campmates including Dean McCullough and Irish boxing icon Barry McGuigan, who also opened up about how death had affected his family. Barry reflected on his daughter, Danika, who battled leukaemia and later bowel cancer.

Despite fighting against the disease, Danika and the family were left devastated when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer just five weeks before she passed away. Danika had initially suffered "pains in her tummy" while making a movie. During the chat, Barry shared the heartbreaking final words of his daughter, admitting she said: "Mum, I can't hold on," as the camp burst into tears.

The 63-year-old Irish sport star and his wife Sandra, who he wed back in 1981, were left devastated in 2019 when their daughter, Danika - who was affectionately called Nika - died at the age of 33 following a battle against cancer. Barry shared the sad news at the time, sharing a photo of himself with his late daughter online.

This led Coleen to open up to campmates Dean and Oti Mabuse about her sister. She said: "I don't usually get worked up, it takes me a lot." "Even when Rosie died, I kept it together for me mum and dad," she said. She added: "When you're away and in different environments, it's when you stop." Coleen went on to reveal that her anniversary is coming up in January. "She was 14 when she died, she'd be 26 now," she said, adding: "It's hard to lose a child, I've always said that… So we're lucky to have what we've got."

Coleen's parents adopted Rosie when she was two, knowing she was disabled. Sadly her health got worse as time when on. Coleen added in her Disney+ documentary: "Rosie she struggled. She couldn't walk and she couldn't talk. She would be in pain and sick but she would still put a smile on her face.

"Rett syndrome is a genetic disorder, sometimes she used to force a laugh out, I think to make me mum and dad happy. Gradually her brain wasn't functioning and she couldn't eat anymore, she couldn't crawl anymore." Coleen's mum then explained how Rosie was forced to go to intensive care several times as she got more and more sick. But they arranged for her to come back to their home in Liverpool for her last few days and they had "one last sleepover" and then a party to celebrate her life.

In tears Coleen added: "To lose a child is the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone. But when you look back now, she gave us so many good years of happiness and love." In an article for a newspaper in May 2009, Coleen described how her family coped with looking after Rosie once the child's health began to get worse. One passage read: "Today Rosie can't walk or talk. She can't eat, so she's fed through a tube that goes into her stomach. She has good days and bad days and her health can change from hour to hour. One minute she can be laughing and happy; the next she can be having a fit."

In that same year, the McLoughlin family including Coleen made a pilgrimage to Lourdes to pray for Rosie's health.
