Erling Haaland has revealed he is set to become a father after breaking yet another record while on international duty for Norway.

Haaland netted a brace as Norway beat Slovenia 3-0 in the Nations League, with the 24-year-old becoming his country's all-time leading goalscorer in the process. Haaland's first goal drew him level with Jorgen Juve, who scored 33 international goals in the 1920s and 1930s.

His second saw him overtake Juve altogether, having netted 34 goals in 36 appearances for Norway. And after the match, Haaland announced that he and his partner Isabel Haugseng Johansen are having a child.

The Manchester City star posted a photo on social media of him with a football under his shirt and sucking his thumb. The forward also captioned the snap with a baby emoji and a soon arrow emoji.

"I have known this forever," Haaland's teammate Sander Berge told Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet. "I am very happy for him. It is very nice to know that he will become a father together with his partner, Isabel.

"I look forward to following their journey as parents." The Fulham midfielder is a close friend of Haaland's and confirmed he was told of the news over the summer.

However, the report claims that none of the other Norway players knew until Haaland's post on social media. "There are many fathers in the team now. The national team manager in 25 years' time faces a bright future," manager Stale Solbakken joked.

Reflecting on his record-breaking feat, Haaland told reporters: "Of course, it is big and historic. I'm happy, and it's a fantastic record to achieve ... I have many years left. I'm enjoying myself. It was a well executed match. I am proud.

"It is a record that has stood for a long time ... I felt good. It's been a long time since I've had this much energy on the field. Now we have a hard away game - even though we won at home, we must not build up our expectations too much, we must not hype ourselves up too much."

Norway will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Austria and Haaland has been captaining the team in the absence of the injured Martin Odegaard.
