Liam Payne is said to be "struggling" as his second album has been put "on hold" as he was dealt another tough blow.

The former One Direction singer released the first single from his second album, titled Teardrops, back in March when he was also seen crying in a social media video. The 31-year-old's new track failed to make it into the charts and now the rest of his album has been pushed back.

It has been reported that Liam's manager left his role earlier this year which means plans are no longer going smoothly. The star has been quiet on social media since the release of Teardrops and it is unknown when the album will be released.

The Sun reported that a source said: "Things are tough for Liam at the moment. His former manager Roger stepped back earlier this year. He was a steady hand for Liam and he appears to be struggling without his guidance. Things have started to seem slightly erratic, with plans being made before they are cancelled last minute.

"Liam had been doing really well on his second album but now it's completely on pause. Liam is telling people now he has no idea if it'll ever be released."

Liam has been quiet since his song release as he was seen crying in a behind-the-scenes clip which was filmed during the making of his new album. A video was posted in March on TikTok where Liam said: "There were definitely a lot of teardrops shed in making these records and for the first time you really get a picture of what it was like for me each day of making this record.

"This album literally is that whole last year for me. How I was feeling on those days is each record. It was a snapshot of that day." Earlier in the year, it was said that Liam had plans to tell all in a documentary but this was halted due to wanting to focus on his music instead.

He was set to give an insight into life in the world's biggest boyband One Direction as well as talk about his addiction struggles. However it was revealed by The Sun that the plans for the documentary were stopped and Liam chose to not take it any further.

A source said to the Sun : "This time last year, Liam was all fired up about his comeback and teasing new music, but then his health deteriorated. He has hours and hours of footage, and there was interest from various production companies, but in the end he decided not to take things further."

The Mirror have contacted Liam's reps for comment.
