Derry City and Drogheda United fans won’t have long to wait before they can get their hands on tickets for the 2024 Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup final.

The two sides will clash at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday November 10, with the Candystripes bidding for their seventh Blue Riband crown and the Boynesiders going for their second.

Derry last won the Cup just two years ago when they hammered Shelbourne 4-0. Cameron McJannet scored twice that day, while Jamie McGonigle and Jordan McEneff also found the net.

Drogheda’s only FAI Cup win came in 2005 when they beat Cork City, courtesy of goals from Gavin Whelan and Declan O’Brien. Their most recent appearance in a final came in 2013 when they lost 3-2 in a thriller against Sligo Rovers.

Ruaidhrí Higgins’ men could be going for a league and Cup double by the time the final takes place, with City very much in the chase for the Premier Division title.

Drogheda are at the other end of the table, meanwhile, and have some work to do if they are to avoid a relegation play-off, with Bohemians four points ahead of Kevin Doherty’s side.

But after last weekend’s Cup semi-final action, all eyes will be on the big day in November, with tickets set to go on sale for the decider.

When do tickets go on sale?

Separate links for fans of Derry City and Drogheda United, and for neutral fans, will go live on Tuesday from 12 noon.

Neutral tickets were on sale up to last Friday, when the first semi-final took place, so some fans will already have their hands on tickets.

How much will tickets cost?

The cheapest tickets will cost €10 each. These are for children, and special offers for clubs and schools.

Premium Level: €35

General Admission Adult: €25

General Admission Children: €10

General Admission Family (2 Adults + 2 Children): €60

General Admission Clubs/Schools Offer (Adults/U16s): €10

Where can you get the tickets?

The tickets will go on sale via Ticketmaster, with the FAI publishing links on their website and social media channels, and the respective clubs’ channels, from 12 noon on Tuesday.

How will they decide who gets the home dressing room?

The draw for the home and away teams was made on Monday morning. Drogheda United were confirmed as the designated home side and Derry City the away side. This means Drogheda will get the home dressing room and Derry the away one.

Why were Derry City fans up in arms on social media on Monday?

Following the draw, some Derry City fans complained that they would be stuck in the smaller, single-tier away section, as they had been in previous FAI Cup final appearances.

“Third time in a row at the Aviva and given the s**ty away end,” wrote one Candystripes fan on X.

“How many times do you want to give the team other than Derry the big home end fs,” asked another, while a third fan wrote: “Should've given Derry the bigger end. Ground will be empty now.”

However, an FAI source insisted on Monday morning that a decision had yet to be made on where the respective sets of fans would be housed. That information will likely be released later on Monday.

The draw was just to decide which dressing rooms would be used, while a decision on where fans are located is made by the security team.
