Rory McIlroy draws death stare

Bob MacIntyre gave his Ryder Cup team-mate Rory McIlroy the stare during the second round of the Dunhill Links Championship.

Playing in the group ahead of McIlroy at Kingsbarns, the home favourite was preparing to putt for a birdie on the par-4 14th.

With the 390 yards-long hole playing downhill and downwind, McIlroy's drive hit the fairway, avoided the rough at the front of the green and came to a stop right in the heart of it- disturbing MacIntyre in the process.

The Scot turned to glare back at the perpetrator on the tee box and, as he did so, McIlroy's playing partner Billy Horschel also teed it up - but missed the green.

MacIntyre still made the 10-footer to get to 7-under par for the tournament, while McIlroy missed his eagle putt but birdied the hole as well to move to 6-under.

The Sky Sports commentators noted the man from Oban's disgruntlement, with Rich Beem saying: "Bob seems a little annoyed by that" and Ewen Murray speculating: "Rory is preparing his apology by the looks of it!"

MacIntyre went on to double bogey the last to fall to 5-under par, while McIlroy finished up on 6-under.

The Ryder Cup pair have plenty of work to do over the weekend to threaten the leaders, with Nicolas Colsaerts and John Cameron on 14-under par, although they will both play at St Andrews on Saturday where scoring is easier.

Padraig Harrington is the best performing Irishman at the halfway stage on 7-under par, while Shane Lowry is also on 6-under for the tournament.
