The Repair Shop star Jay Blades has been hit with a second court case after he allegedly used his mobile phone while driving his car.

Earlier this week, in news that shocked fans, the BBC star appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' court on Friday to face one charge against his estranged wife, Lisa Zbozen. He was charged with one count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.

He was arrested on May 3, the same day Lisa announced her decision to end their 18-month marriage. The father-of-three is accused of physical and emotional abuse towards her between January 1, 2023 and September 12, 2024. Blades was bailed and will next appear at Worcester Crown Court on October 11.

And now, it has been revealed that he is set to appear at Cannock magistrates court next week over the phone rap. He pleaded not guilty to the alleged driving offence in Wombourne, Staffs, in April last year. The Mirror have reached out to the presenter's reps for comment.

After being charged with 'controlling or coercive behaviour', it was reported that the star quit his role with one of the King's charities in the wake of the charges against him. The charity confirmed recently: “Jay Blades has informed us of his resignation from the ambassador role.”

Jay was appointed building crafts ambassador for the charity, then the Prince’s Foundation, in July 2020 when King Charles was the Prince of Wales. The charity offers “inspiring training programmes which aim to help preserve traditional building craft skills”. His departure from the role was reported by the Sun.

The star, who made an MBE in 2021 and greeted the King on a Repair Shop special in 2022, said about the charity at the time: "I am honoured to be invited to be an ambassador for The Prince’s Foundation. HRH The Prince of Wales’s vision of creating harmonious sustainable communities is a passion very close to my heart. Championing a sustainable approach to how we live our lives, build our homes and teach traditional arts and crafts are fundamental in all aspects of my philosophy.”

Meanwhile, he looked worlds away when he appeared at court on Friday wearing a long pink puffer jacket, hoodie and jogging bottoms. A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said: “54-year-old Jason Blades of Claverley in Wolverhampton has been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour.”

Following the news, Lisa broke her silence with a post on social media. She shared a news article that stated Jay had been charged with controlling or coercive behaviour.
