Linkin Park has returned with a brand-new lineup as they announced their first new music since the tragic death of Chester Bennington in 2017.

The group was formed in 1996 and originally consisted of three members - Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Rob Bourdon. Soon after, they recruited Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, Joe Hahn and Mark Wakefield for their band, which was called Xero. In 1999, Chester joined the iconic rock group as the replacement for Mark. After Chester died, the group went on hiatus before returning this month with a new lineup.

On Thursday, Linkin Park went on a livestream and showcased their new singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, who joined original members Mike, Brad, Phoenix and Joe. Mike and Emily will be sharing the vocal duties. They also announced their new single, The Emptiness Machine.

Introducing the band, Mike said: "This is a very special day for us," before explaining that guitarist Alex Feder was filling in for Brad for the night. "In the role of Chester Bennington this afternoon is each of you,” Mike continued to the crowd. The band then announced a new album, From Zero, which will be released on November 15.

From Zero's tracklist includes the songs From Zero (intro), The Emptiness Machine, Cut The Bridge, Heavy Is The Crown, Over Each Other, Casualty, Overflow, Two Faced, Stained, IGYEIH and Good Things Go. Linkin Park's last album, One More Light, was released two months before Chester died by suicide at his home in Palos Verdes Estates.

In a statement, the four surviving founders said they “quietly began meeting up again in recent years” in an attempt to "reconnect with the creativity and camaraderie" from their early days together.

The four original members said that “rather than ‘trying to restart the band,'” they worked with numerous musicians and “found a special kinship with Armstrong and Brittain.”

The title of their new album, From Zero, "refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking.

"Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead.”

Linkin Park will also be embarking on a little trip around the world to perform six concerts, with a show in Inglewood, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota.

After Chester died in 2017, the band released a statement sharing the heartbreak over the loss of their friend.

The statement said: "Our hearts are broken. The shock waves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened. You touched so many lives, maybe even more than you realised. In the past few days, we've seen an outpouring of love and support, both public and private, from around the world.

"Talinda and the family appreciate it, and want the world to know that you were the best husband, son, and father; the family will never be whole without you."
